Withdrawal Policy

The Journal of Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (JSMT) recognizes that authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript under certain circumstances. However, withdrawal is considered an exceptional action and must be properly justified.

Withdrawal Before Peer Review

Authors may withdraw their manuscript at any time before the peer review process begins by submitting a written request to the editorial office. No further action will be taken once withdrawal is confirmed.

Withdrawal During or After Peer Review

If a manuscript has already entered the peer review process, a withdrawal request must:

  • Be submitted in writing by the corresponding author

  • Include a clear and valid reason for withdrawal

  • Be approved by the Editor-in-Chief

Withdrawal at this stage is discouraged, particularly if it is intended for submission to another journal.

Unethical Withdrawal

Withdrawing a manuscript after peer review without valid justification, especially for the purpose of submitting to another journal, may be considered unethical conduct.

The editorial board reserves the right to:

  • Reject future submissions from the author(s) for a specified period

  • Notify the author’s institution in cases of serious misconduct

Post-Acceptance Withdrawal

Withdrawal requests after acceptance are only considered in cases involving:

  • Proven ethical violations

  • Major errors affecting the validity of the study

In such cases, the journal may proceed with correction, retraction, or removal in accordance with its Publication Ethics policy.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

JSMT encourages authors to carefully consider their submissions prior to initiating the peer review process and to engage responsibly throughout the publication process.

For withdrawal requests, authors must contact the editorial office through the official journal communication channel.
