The weakening of the global economy and the decline in crude oil prices over the last five years have affected economic growth in Batam. This situation has encouraged the Badan Pengusahaan Batam (BP Batam) to begin developing the tourism sector. The floating restaurant concept is considered one of the most suitable solutions, as Batam is an archipelagic city surrounded by the sea. Its strategic location, featuring numerous bays, coastlines, and scenic ocean views, makes the floating restaurant concept highly attractive from a visual perspective. This floating restaurant was designed with distinctive ship specifications. The vessel’s interior and exterior design adopt the traditional Bubung house theme of the Riau Islands to introduce and highlight local cultural heritage. The principal dimensions include a length overall (LoA) of 28.64 meters, a breadth (B) of 5.53 meters, and a height (H) of 2.22 meters. The vessel uses a mono hull type with a barge-shaped hull form. To achieve an accurate design, the ship lines plan was developed based on comparisons of the principal dimensions of several similar vessels. The stability of the floating restaurant was analyzed using the Maxsurf software. The results indicate that the floating restaurant satisfies the International Maritime Organization (IMO) A.749 stability standards under three different loading conditions: empty load, half load, and full load. These findings confirm that the floating restaurant is safe for operation.
